Hotel Bygdin is steeped in history.
It was built in 1897 and has been renovated a number of times, including after being used as an officer's quarters during the war in 1942. German and Austrian troops were stationed in the mountains there to train in Arctic warfare.

Today the hotel is owned by Tor Oxhovd who stopped by for a coffee and a waffle and realised the magic of the location and the possibilities for adventure.
The hotel is perfectly located for winter and summer activities; from fjellski to husky sledding, snow-shoeing to ski-kiting, 'via Ferrata' and kayaking on the Bygdin lake. The hotel has its own guides and equipment and will even chainsaw a hole in the frozen lake for early morning dips when we arrive.
